Laura Ernestine Hoffstatter was born at Agency City, Iowa, May 14, 1855. She crossed the plains with an immigration party in 1864, arriving in Walla Walla in October of that year. She attended the first school taught in the first public building in that city. The family moved to Waitsburg and then returned to the Walla Walla valley. She was united in marriage to Thomas N. Moore March 3, 1872. Mr. Moore also was a member of a pioneer family. The following children were born to this union: Mrs. John Boldman, Phoenix, Ariz., William and Earl Moore, Kennewick; G. Thomas Moore, Hooper; Mrs. C. E. Todd, Hooper; Miss Nettie Moore, deceased; Mrs. Floyd Montgomery, Kennewick; Mrs. Clarence Beighton, Lamont; Forrest L. Moore, Hooper. Besides the husband and the children she leaves to mourn her departure two brothers and two sisters, G. W. Hoffstatter, Cambridge, Idaho; Milton D. Hoffstatter, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. J. M. Moore, Baker City, Oregon; Mrs. James Morfitt, Malheur, Oregon, the latter of whom was with the sister during the last two weeks of her illness.
