Description	:	Laura Jenell (Martin) Birch, wife of the late John Carey Birch, Sr. was granted her Angel Wings and entrance to Heaven on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout life. Laura was born May 31, 1928, in Spartanburg County to the late Charlie and Cora Lee (Johnson) Martin. Laura was born May 31, 1928, in Spartanburg County to the late Charlie and Cora Lee (Johnson) Martin. A lifetime member of Fairmont United Methodist Church, she retired from Butte Knitting Mills and Mayfair Mills. She is survived by her two sons, John Carey Birch, Jr. of the home and Jerry E. Birch and wife Marilyn of Spartanburg; her two daughters, Teresa Switzer and husband Pat of Lyman and Gail Justice and husband Gene of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Carey Birch and wife Maranda of Spartanburg, Holly Switzer, Jonathan Switzer of Lyman, Cindy McCrary and husband Jon of Inman, and Jeana Lawson and husband Scott of Boiling Springs; and great-grandchildren, Brelyn Birch, C.J. Birch, Haley Lawson, Tyler Lawson and Cierra McCrary. She was predeceased by a grandson, Joshua T. Switzer; three brothers, Gene, Dan and J.B. Martin, Sr.; and two sisters, Marie Crowe and Minnie Lee Pearson. Funeral services were 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Fairmont United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Bailey. The family received friends 6:00-8:00 pm Monday, July 8, 2013 at The Stribling Funeral Home. Interment was at the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Jonathan Switzer, Carey Birch, Scott Lawson, Jon McCrary, Tyler Lawson and Jake Gibson. Memorials could be made to the Fairmont United Methodist Church, Ellie Shearouse, PO Box 204, Lyman, SC 29365.
