Mrs. Peters, the former Laura Juanita Betts was born May 31, 1917 in Calamus, Iowa, to Elbert A. and Ora E. (Burt) Betts. Laura married LeRoy Peters, December 3, 1938 in Delhi, Iowa. The couple farmed at rural Grand Mound, where they raised their family. LeRoy preceded Laura in death July 3, 1998. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. Mrs. Peters, the former Laura Juanita Betts was born May 31, 1917 in Calamus, Iowa, to Elbert A. and Ora E. (Burt) Betts. Laura married LeRoy Peters, December 3, 1938 in Delhi, Iowa. The couple farmed at rural Grand Mound, where they raised their family. LeRoy preceded Laura in death July 3, 1998. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Neola "Nikki" and Dan Soto, Grand Mound, and Portia and William Smith, Chino Valley, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Angela Smith, Robert (Stephanie) Smith, Roberta (Chuck) Graver, J.D. (Dawn) Smith, Jim (Tami) Smith, Erika (Alan) Anderson, Danna (Greg) Wuestenberg and Daniel (Amber) Soto; 19 great-grandchildren. Preceding Laura in death in addition to her husband, LeRoy, were her parents, a sister, Ruth Gephart and two brothers, William and Orville Betts. The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2006. A service of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. The Rev. Dan Olson officiating. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery, Bliedorn. The family suggests memorials to Clover Ridge Assisted Living or Jackson County Hospice. Pallbearers will be Dale Peters, Ron Peters, Jack Peters, Bob Peters, Don Johnson and Bob Gephart.
