Description	:	From the May 17, 1923 Skidmore News, page 1: "Mrs. Miles Cook died at her home in Skidmore Monday afternoon, May 14, 1923, after a stroke of paralysis Saturday morning. Mrs. Cook was taken to the hospital in St. Joseph about six weeks ago and underwent an operation. She got some better and was able to come home about three weeks ago, and was visiting at the home of Mrs. Lansing Reese when the stroke hit her. When she underwent the operation, it was found that she had many cancers and it was said then that she might... Read More	From the May 17, 1923 Skidmore News, page 1: "Mrs. Miles Cook died at her home in Skidmore Monday afternoon, May 14, 1923, after a stroke of paralysis Saturday morning. Mrs. Cook was taken to the hospital in St. Joseph about six weeks ago and underwent an operation. She got some better and was able to come home about three weeks ago, and was visiting at the home of Mrs. Lansing Reese when the stroke hit her. When she underwent the operation, it was found that she had many cancers and it was said then that she might live several years and again she might not live six weeks. It was just six weeks from the time she was operated on until her death. Obituary Laura Lee Cook, daughter of Thomas and Sarah Patton, was born March 25th, 1866. Departed this life on May 14th, 1923. Age 57 years, one month and nineteen days. On January 1st, 1890, she was united in marriage to William Sharp, and to this union one son, Clarence, was born. In early life she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, at Centenary, later moving her membership to the church at Skidmore, Mo., in which she has lived a conscientious, consistent, and Christian life. Mr. Sharp preceded her in death in December 1914. On November 9th, 1919, she was united in marriage to Miles Cook, who survives her. She leaves to mourn, her husband, son, Clarence Sharp, his wife and two children of Casper, Wyoming; one sister, Cynthia Willis, of Billings, Mont.; four brothers, John and Bob Patton of Maryville, Billy Patton of St. Joseph, and George Patton of San Diego, California; and a large host of relatives and friends. She was a loving wife and mother, a kind neighbor and friend, a member of the Royal Neighbor and the Rebecca lodges of Skidmore, and her passing will be sadly missed by all the organizations of which she was a member. The funeral services were held this afternoon at the M. E. South church in charge of the pastor, Rev. G. W. Trotter. Interment was in the Masonic cemetery."
