Funeral services were held March 31 from the Chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with Gene Parsons officiating. Special music was provided by granddaughter Laura Ann, Deloy Brown, Sybil Brown, Boyd Raper and Johnny Moore. Interment was held in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Ford was born June 14, 1912, in the Mill Creek Area of Cumberland County, the daughter of Morris B. and Eliza Ann Potter Goss. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. She was a very devoted and loving Christian lady who instilled the importance of prayer to her family and believed that at an early age the Lord's Prayer and the 23rd Psalm should be taught and followed. She also lived by the Golden Rule each day of her life. Her direct quote to Thelma Ann and Frances was "Always do right and you will come out ahead in the long run." She loved gardening and canning. Her great cooking will always be remembered by many. On Aug. 16, 1930, she married Fred Francis Ford from Grassy Cove. For many years she peddled milk, butter and eggs at the local grocery stores on Main Street in Crossville. Survivors include her daughter, Thelma Ann of Crossville; granddaughter and namesake, Frances Louise Beard and her husband Daryl of Crossville; great-grandson, David Christoffer Glen "Boomer" Beard; great-granddaughter and namesake, Laura Ann Beard; special nieces, Leora Bowman and Mary Snowden; special friend, Nellie Weatherford; and a host of other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Francis Ford; brothers, Jeff Goss and Al Goss; and sister, Ethel Adams. Pallbearers were Boomer Beard, Darly Beard, David Beard, Ray Bowman, Kent McCormick and Winston Clouse. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Hicks, Don Goss, Tim Atkins, Glen Beard, Donnie Wiggins and Morris Potter. Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
