She was born Aug. 16, 1929, in West Mineral to Percy and Laura Hughes Montee. She was a 1947 graduate of the Crawford County High School. She lived in southeast Kansas until 1955 at which time she moved to Kansas City. She married Ezra Church in February of 1969 in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2001. She worked at Kansas State Teachers College as a secretary. When she moved to Kansas City she worked in several secretarial positions at Natkin Co., Standard Oil and Texaco Oil. She attended the Nazarene Church of Olathe. Survivors include six sisters, Barbara Humble of Cherokee, Pat Favero of Prairie Village, Judy Klodt of Pittsburg, Nancy Simpson of Olathe, Lana Loftus of Overland Park, and Joan Haefling of Richardson, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Betty Tilly, Eleanor Holloway, and Peggy Kaeberle; and two brothers, Albert and Kenneth Montee. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir with Jeff Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until 6 p.m. Friday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Weir.
