Description	:	Laura Kuper, 98 died Friday April 25, 2014 at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center, Lennox, SD. Laura Mae was born in Lincoln County, SD Feb. 15, 1916 the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Reamer) Mausbach. On Jul. 2, 1932 she eloped with John D. Kuper and was united in marriage at Vermillion, SD seconds before the Sheriff and her father arrived. They happily celebrated 60 years of marriage before John passed away in 1992. Laura Mae was born in Lincoln County, SD Feb. 15, 1916 the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Reamer) Mausbach. On Jul. 2, 1932 she eloped with John D. Kuper and was united in marriage at Vermillion, SD seconds before the Sheriff and her father arrived. They happily celebrated 60 years of marriage before John passed away in 1992. They farmed and she taught Pre-School as well as was Librarian at Lennox High School. In 1952 they moved to Sacramento, CA where she was a Junior High School Librarian. She furthered her education at the University of California and eventually became Curriculum Coordinator and Director of Grant Union Secondary School Libraries. After retiring in 1978, she and John returned to Sioux Falls, where they were active volunteers. She served as President of Union Gospel Mission Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of Bergland Senior Citizens Council. In 2005 she moved to the Lennox Good Samaritan Center where she was lovingly cared for by staff and families of several of the residents. She was preceded in death by her parents, her only sister, Hazel Larson (1978), and her husband John (1992), her son Sidney Paul (1978) and her son Gary Thomas (2012). Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Jack Kuper and his wife Marilou of Jupiter, FL and daughter, Ellen Jansen-Soret of Sioux Falls, SD., 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren as well as 2 step-grandson and their spouses, 5 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren in France.
