The daughter of Thomas and Olivia Pierson McGrew, she was born on January 29, 1881, near Gilman. She received her education in the Gilman area and attended Drake University, earning a teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools in the Gilman area for ten years. She was also a clerk in the Gilman post office for two years, served as Sunday School Superintendent at the Gilman Community Church for 19 years, and was Gilman correspondent for the Grinnell Herald-Register and the Marshalltown Times-Republican for more than 40 years. On June 24, 1943, she married John Frankforth, who preceded her in death in 1953. Mrs. Frankforth was a member of the Gilman Community United Church of Christ and a charter member of the Women's Club. There are no immediate survivors.
