Description	:	Laura Pauline Allen Delzell Walker of Ottumwa passed away December 12/20/14 @ Vista Woods Care Center. She was born September 17, 1927 in Hitt, Missouri to William Bernard Allen and Zelda Gladys Snyder Allen both deceased. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1945. She was a star basketball player in high school and was Salutatorian of her graduating class. She was married in Hutchison Kansas in 1946 to Gene W Delzell. They lived in Ottumwa where their six children were born. They later divorced. She married I. Donald Walker in 1973. He died in 1992. Laura worked at Ottumwa... Read More	Laura Pauline Allen Delzell Walker of Ottumwa passed away December 12/20/14 @ Vista Woods Care Center. She was born September 17, 1927 in Hitt, Missouri to William Bernard Allen and Zelda Gladys Snyder Allen both deceased. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1945. She was a star basketball player in high school and was Salutatorian of her graduating class. She was married in Hutchison Kansas in 1946 to Gene W Delzell. They lived in Ottumwa where their six children were born. They later divorced. She married I. Donald Walker in 1973. He died in 1992. Laura worked at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in the Business Office, billing department, for 23 years, retiring in 1988. She was one of the first recipients of the Cochlear implants for hearing, from the University of Iowa Hospitals. She was preceded in death by three brothers James Walter, Roger William, and Charles Raymond Allen; also preceeding her in death were a daughter, Sharon Joye Delzell in 1949, a son, Kerry Dean Delzell in 1979, and a step-son, John Douglas (J.D.) Walker, and great grandson, Tripp Loy. She is survived by three children Pattie (Terry) Porterfield, Karen (Greg) Loy and Bobby (Peggy) Delzell, two step-children Carol Grassman and Daniel Walker, 9 grand children and 15 great grand children. Visitation will be Tuesday at Reece’s Funeral Home from 6-8 P.M. Services will be at Willard Street Methodist Church in Ottumwa Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. with burial in Pulaski Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Tripp Foundation at post office box--in memory of her great grandson Tripp Ernest Loy, son of Aaron and Alicia Loy.
