Laura was born March 28, 1913, to Mathew and Catherine (Rausch) Kaiser at Hoven, S.D. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural schools. She married Mike Goetz on April 30, 1935, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen. They made their home on a farm near Hosmer for two years before moving to Yakima, Wash. In 1940, they moved to southern California. During WWII she worked for Convair Aircraft as an assembler. They moved to Roscoe in 1975. Mike died on Oct. 30, 1993. A year later, she moved to Aberdeen and had returned to Roscoe just three weeks ago. She much enjoyed being with and near her family and friends. Laura died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. She is survived by her two sons, Bob Goetz of Roscoe and Jim Goetz of Aberdeen; two stepsisters, Sr. Ida Hericks of Watertown, S.D., and Rita (Albert) Sebert of Aberdeen; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, five brothers and one stepbrother preceded her in death. Casketbearers will be Elroy Goetz, Jim Goetz, Dan Goetz, Elmer Goetz, Jerome Goetz, and Val Goetz. Al Sebert and Joe Goetz will serve as ushers. The lector will be Al Sebert. The St. Thomas Choir will sing during the service. Published in the Aberdeen News on 8/23/2006.
