Description	:	Funeral services for Mrs. Laura S. Johnson, 94, Groton, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 24, in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jon Simundson officiating. Burial was in the Groton Union Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson died Thursday, April 22, at Day County Memorial Hospital in Webster. Mrs. John Gibbs accompanied the congregation in singing, "Nearer My God To Thee," "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling" and "Lead On, O King Eternal." Casketbearers were Ramon Larsen, Loel Larsen, Edwin Brue, Philip Swenson, Howard Swenson and Lester Brue. Mrs. Johnson was born May 29, 1881, in Brue, Norway. She came to America in 1903 and settled in Centerville. She married Helmick Johnson in Hooker July 16, 1906. Mrs. Johnson had lived in Groton since that year. She was a charter member of the church and its women's group. Survivors include three sons, Harry and Ernest Johnson, both of Groton, and Gerhard Johnson of Roland, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Rangvald (Margaret) Larsen of Groton and Mrs. Clarence (Lucille) Swenson of Aberdeen; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband and one son. Paetznick - Garness Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
