Skipworth of Holyoke were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Holyoke Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Vernon May officiating. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Arrangements were in charge of the Lewis Funeral Home. Mrs. Skipworth, a resident of the Lamar, Nebraska and Holyoke communities for a number of years, passed away on Tuesday evening, June 3, at the Phillips County Hospital. Mrs. Skipworth, a resident of the Lamar, Nebraska and Holyoke communities for a number of years, passed away on Tuesday evening, June 3, at the Phillips County Hospital. She was 83 years of age and had been hospitalized three months. As Laura Susanna Jones, Mrs. Skipworth was born July 31, 1874, at Ottumwa, Iowa, a daughter of Aaron and Sophia Jones. While still a small child she moved with her parents to Hamilton County, Nebraska, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to William W. Skipworth on March 20, 1900 at Central City, Nebraska, and later moved to Venango. They moved to Lamar in 1919, residing there until moving to Holyoke in 1945. Mrs. Skipworth was a member of the local Church of the Nazarene for a number of years. Surviving are two sons, William A. Skipworth, Fort Collins, and Kenneth W. Skipworth, Holyoke; two daughters, Mrs. Mae Franson, Haxtun, and Mrs. Alta Ruch, Holyoke; one brother, Corda A. Jones, Denver; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
