Description	:	LAURA LACAEYSE, age 90, of rural Montezuma, died Monday afternoon, March 23, 1998 at Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn after a brief illness. SERVICES: 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 26, 1998 at Nevenhoven Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Joseph Rogers officiating. INTERMENT: Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Friends may call at Nevenhoven Funeral Home from 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday where there will be a Scripture Service at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice. She is survived by a son Marvin and wife Delores of Montezuma; a brother, Rene Van Tomme of Montezuma; seven grandchildren, Gene, Carol, Carl and Dean Lacaeyse and Mike, David and John Donachie; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 1981, her daughter, Evelyn Donachie; a brother Camiel VanTomme and a sister, Mary Goodrich. Laura VanTomme was born November 14, 1907, Kewanee, Illinois; the daughter of Emil and Clamence Bueganjon Van Tomme. At an early age she and her family moved to Poweshiek County, Iowa and she received her education the county schools an Deep River school. She married Alfred (Fred) Lacaeyse on November 18, 1926 at Marengo. The couple farmed for many years in Poweshiek county and her husband, Fred, preceded her in death on December 17, 1981. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Poweshiek County Farm Bureau and for over 70 years a member of the Social Circle Club. She enjoyed crocheting for her family and friends; working in her flower garden and caring for her many cats and dog, Sparkie Honorary bearers were Jim VanErsvelde, Jerry Van Ersvelde, Jim Criswell, Edward Henry, Merle Reitzler, and Paul Hawkins. Casket Bearers were Gene Lacaeyse, Carl Lacaeyse, Dean Lacaeyse, Mike Donachie, David Donachie, John Donachie, Tim Kibbee, Gary Meseck and Joel Lacaeyse
