Description	:	Laura Long Ayers, 77, wife of Jeddie C. Ayers, formerly of Lake City, S.C. passed away on Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 in Charleston following a long illness. Laura was born on March 7, 1933 in Hemingway, S.C. a daughter of the late John Long and the late Inez Rogers Long. She and her husband resided in Scranton, S.C., where they raised their 3 children until 1995 when they moved to Ft Mill, S.C. and in July 2010 relocated to Daniel Island, S.C. Ayers, formerly of Lake City, S.C. passed away on Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 in Charleston following a long illness. Laura was born on March 7, 1933 in Hemingway, S.C. a daughter of the late John Long and the late Inez Rogers Long. She and her husband resided in Scranton, S.C., where they raised their 3 children until 1995 when they moved to Ft Mill, S.C. and in July 2010 relocated to Daniel Island, S.C. Laura was employeed by the former Wentworth Mfg Co of Lake City for 15 years. She later was able to release her creative energy in floral arrangements while working for Libby's Florist in Lake City. She was a member of the Scranton United Methodist Church where she valued beyond all things her involvement in Church where she taught Kindergarten, Sunday School Classes and active with the MYF Group and was a member of the Church Choir. She was preceded in death by her brother John Wilson Long, a sister in law Mary Ann Long and two brother in laws, Robert F Young and Chesley Stephens. Surviving in addition to her husband of Daniel Island, S.C. includes 1 daughter Gail Ayers Lyons and her husband Gene of Plant City, FL: two sons, Michael W Ayers of Charleston, S.C. and Jeff Ayers of Daniel Island, S.C: 1 brother Thomas D Long and his wife Nancy of Effingham, S.C.: two sisters, Cora L. Stephens of Grovetown, GA. And Francis L Young of Bishopville, S.C.: 1 sister-in law Carolyn Lee of Florence, S.C.: three grandchildren, Jennifer Chamberlain, Amber Dorrell and Brittney Ayers and 4 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 6, 2010 in the Chapel of Brockington Funeral Home in Lake City, S.C. with Rev. Clide Glover and Rev. Fran Cornell officiating. Burial will follow in the Scranton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
