Green, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.B. VanDeVenter in this city, Tuesday the 22nd, at 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Green had been an invalid for the past two years having suffered a stroke of paralysis, but was not confined to her bed until a few days ago, when a large and painful carbuncle developed on the back of her neck, which, with erysipelas, was the immediate cause of her death. Mrs. Green was one of the earliest settlers in this part of the county, having come to Iowa about forty years ago with her husband, Henry Green, who died about twenty years ago, and, with their little family opened up a farm in Jasper county, about three miles from the present site of Gilman and there, amid all the trials and privations of frontier life, raised a family of four sons and four daughters, all of whom are now living except one son, who died about twelve years ago. Mrs. Green, if spared until Dec. 19, next, would have been 68 years old. The funeral services were held at the Congregational church today. Added 15 Dec 2017
