Description	:	Laurel Harrison “Dub” Rickard, Medicine Lodge, passed away February 10, 2015. He was born in Zenda, Kansas on March 16th, 1920, the son of Charles and Mima Jane Rickard. He was the youngest of twelve children. He graduated from Medicine Lodge High School where he met his future wife Mary Jean Hibbard. He attended Ft. He was born in Zenda, Kansas on March 16th, 1920, the son of Charles and Mima Jane Rickard. He was the youngest of twelve children. He graduated from Medicine Lodge High School where he met his future wife Mary Jean Hibbard. He attended Ft. Hays State University until joining the U.S. Army in 1942. He was a member of the Army Medical Corps and participated in the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Normandy in France and the Rhineland in Germany during WWII. After the war he worked at Hibbard’s Rexall Store, which he eventually bought from his father-in-law. Dub was a member of the Kansas Board of Healing Arts, having been appointed by Governor Joan Finney, a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite Shrine, a sixty-year plus member of the Lions Club and Medicine Lodge Chamber of Commerce and served as president of both organizations. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and served as its Senior Warden for several years. Dub was an enthusiastic supporter and leader of the cavalry contingent for the Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty Pageant for many years. All who knew him will recall he had a life-long love of horses and a dedicated passion for his beloved Medicine Lodge. He never tired of extolling its beauty and its wonderful citizens. He spent many years working with the Kansas Silver Haired Legislature. He was preceded in death by his wife. He is survived by his daughters Georgia Ann Small (Jonathan) of Topeka and Martha Jean Bogner (Bill) of Kiowa, grandchildren Arron Small (Cathy), Jennifer Small Trotter (Seth), Julie Bogner Lindeman (Jericho), and Barrett Bogner, as well as six great-grandchildren, countless nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Visitation will be on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Karen Lemon officiating. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Leisure Time Center, the Lincoln Library, or the Stockade Museum. Condolences may be left at www.larrisonmortuary.com
