Description	:	Laurel Liedtke, age 90, of Huron, died Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Surprise, Arizona. His funeral service was Saturday, February 16th, at Bethesda Church with the Rev. Roy Burket officiating. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Laurel Liedtke was born June 29, 1922, to Carl and Pauline (Heitzman) Liedtke at Wessington. Laurel Liedtke was born June 29, 1922, to Carl and Pauline (Heitzman) Liedtke at Wessington. Laurel grew up on a farm near Wessington. He graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1940. After high school, he spent 5 years farming for two uncles. In 1945, he began working for Northwestern Public Service where he remained until retiring in 1983 after 38 years. He married Carrol Mees in 1945 in Huron. They were happily married for 52 years. He married Betty Hofer in 2000. Laurel was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and Bethesda Church of Huron. He sang in church choirs and served in various roles for the churches he attended throughout his life. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, traveling to his home in Arizona, farming, playing cards with family and friends, and spending time with his family. Laurel was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carrol; two grandchildren, Brodie and Joshua Liedtke; his sister, Lydia Liedtke Weber; and four brothers, Frederick, Edwin, Reuben and Chester. Laurel is survived by his wife, Betty of Huron; his sons, Dennis (Linda) of Huron, Wayne (Lois) of Windsor, Colorado and Morris (Irene) of Huron; his daughter, Jan (Phil Schweizer) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his sister, Eunice Liedtke of Wessington Springs; his grandchildren, Brad (Marty) Liedtke, Dawn (Eric Dillon), Daniel (Kris) Liedtke, Nathan, Jesse and Katherine Schweizer; his great-grandchildren, Melina, Brice, Reagan, Alyson, Carson, Lawson and Duncan; and his nieces, nephews and other relatives.
