Description	:	Laurelle Adrian Ness passed away September 23, 2019, in Fort Collins, Colorado, at the age of 93. He was born to Lewis and Matilda (Iverson) Ness near Toronto, South Dakota, on January 28, 1926. He graduated from the School of Agriculture at SDSU in Brookings in 1944, and married Drusilla Bortnem on September 8, 1946. They farmed near Brookings for 35 years. He was born to Lewis and Matilda (Iverson) Ness near Toronto, South Dakota, on January 28, 1926. He graduated from the School of Agriculture at SDSU in Brookings in 1944, and married Drusilla Bortnem on September 8, 1946. They farmed near Brookings for 35 years. After retiring from the farm, he was employed for seven years at the SDSU Dairy Research Farm. He and Drusilla spent 15 winters in Mesa, Arizona. They moved to Fort Collins in 1999. Laurelle served on committees and boards that were responsible for bringing electricity, telephone service and a rural water system to their area. He served as clerk for their local rural school district and was actively involved with the problems of rural school reorganization in the 1960's. He was a 25-year member on the board of directors for the Brookings/Watertown branch of the Federal Land Bank of Omaha. He enjoyed weekly meetings with Golden K groups, traveling, bowling and golfing. You would often find him visiting and maybe having coffee with friends and absolute strangers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Drusilla, parents, one brother, and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 3, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Brookings with interment following at First Lutheran Cemetery.
