Description	:	Funeral services for Laurence "Larry" Beach, 72, of Creighton were held Monday, April 12, 1993 at 10:30 at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. Father Jerome Spenner officiated with burial following in St. Ludger Cemetery. Military honors were given by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1151 and American Legion Post 74 of Creighton. Laurence Earl Beach, the son of Earl and Julia (Cole) Beach, was born May 17, 1920 at Stuart and died Friday, April 9, 1993 at Veterans Hospital in Omaha. He attended Atkinson Public Schools and married Shirley Wentz on January 26, 1944 at Los Angeles, CA. He served in the U.S. Army Cavalry for four years and in the infantry during WWII in the European Theatre under General Patton. He was discharged after being wounded in Germany in 1945. He was employed as parts manager at Overholt Implement Service in Creighton for over thirty years. He was a life member and quartermaster of VFW Post of Creighton, a member of American Legion Post of Creighton and Knights of Columbus Council 1238. He was a member of St. Ludger Catholic Church and of the Cursilla movement. He was a bingo caller for fifteen years and also an avid bowler. Survivors include his wife; children and spouses, Patricia and Gene Shaffer of Creighton, Donald and Alice Beach of South Sioux City, Bernard "Bun" and Shirley Beach of Creighton and Phyllis and Bill Mathine of Tekamah; ten grandchildren and a sister, Verna Callan of Garden Grove, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters in infancy, Mary Catherine and Karen Kay, a brother and a sister. ...The Creighton News 14 April 1993
