Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kranzburg with Father Ken Koster officiating. Music will be furnished by Becky Lubbers as soloist and Tami Ching as organist. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Holy Rosary Church. "Larry" Berg, age 63, of Goodwin, SD, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Military honors will be conducted by the Codington County Post 17 of the American Legion in Watertown. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Fogel, Bill Kennedy, Leo Hanten and Larry's Godchildren: Tamra Ching, Sarah Berg and Carmen Kennedy-Sumner. Active Pallbearers will be Garry "Beaner" Ehlebracht, Shane Berg, Brian Berg, Chad Bren, John Linneman and Jerry Maurer. Laurence J. Berg was born on February 17, 1950 to Vincent W. and Esther S. (Holzemer) Berg in Clear Lake, SD. He attended Holy Rosary School until the eighth grade and then Clear Lake High School, graduating in 1968. Larry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for four years. After his discharge from the military, he attended SDSU in Brookings. Larry held various jobs until becoming disabled. Larry was a lifelong member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. He also enjoyed listening to music which included heavy metal and golden oldies. He was preceded in death by his father, five brothers, and one sister-in-law. Larry is survived by his mother, Esther Berg of Watertown; three sisters, Judy (Bill) Kennedy and Joyce Berg all of Watertown, and Connie (Mark) Fogel of Sioux Falls; his brother, Richard (Carol) Berg of Castlewood; a sister-in-law, Melanie (Gary) Berg-Swanson of Watertown; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
