Newspaper as follows: "Laurence Rains was born in Mexico, IN, 21 Apr 1838 and D: at his home in Clarksville, IA, 28 Dec 1916, age 78 yrs, 8 mo, 6 days. He came to Butler when he was a young man and worked as acarpenter & stone mason. He M: 13 Mar 1858, Miss Ellen Weaver of Janesville, WI. Services were held from the late home, Sat at 1PM, conducted by George Moyer and the body was laid to restmin Lynwood Cemetery beside his wife who preceeded him on 6 May 1883.
