Description	:	Georgetown, SC Lauretta Brockinton Dean, widow of Eulis Harold Dean, who died in 1999, died October 26, 2015. Mrs. Dean was a lifelong resident of Georgetown. She was born April 1, 1922, a daughter of Bertha Emerson Brockinton and Belton O'Neal Brockinton. She attended Georgetown public schools and Coker College in Hartsville. In 1943, after graduating from college, she enlisted in the United States Navy as a WAVE and worked as a laboratory technician in San Diego Hospital in California. Read More	Georgetown, SC Lauretta Brockinton Dean, widow of Eulis Harold Dean, who died in 1999, died October 26, 2015. Mrs. Dean was a lifelong resident of Georgetown. She was born April 1, 1922, a daughter of Bertha Emerson Brockinton and Belton O'Neal Brockinton. She attended Georgetown public schools and Coker College in Hartsville. In 1943, after graduating from college, she enlisted in the United States Navy as a WAVE and worked as a laboratory technician in San Diego Hospital in California. She marched in the Victory Parade in New York City, an event she always remembered. After the war, she moved back to Georgetown and worked in the hospital in Conway. There she met her future husband, "Pete Dean", whom she married in 1947. When the last of her four children entered elementary school, Lauretta began her teaching career which lasted twenty-six years. An avid gardener, reader, and animal lover, she also sang in the church choir, played tennis and golf, and loved being a docent for her church. She also enjoyed writing poems and using her artistic talent to sketch and paint. She leaves her children many happy memories of cooking wonderful meals, taking day trips to Pawley's Island, buying six bags of Jack's Chocolate Chip Cookies every week, and being the best nurse a child could ever have! Above all, she loved the Lord Jesus with all of her heart and was ready to join Him in Heaven. Funeral services were Thursday, October 29, 2015, in Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church. Burial, directed by Mayer Funeral Home, followed in Prince George cemetery.
