Description	:	Laurina A. Sperling, 93 years, of Fremont, NE, formerly of Arlington, NE died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Nye Legacy in Fremont. She was born May 29, 1920 near Arlington, NE to Henry and Sophie (Kruger) Hilgenkamp. She grew up on the family farm north of Arlington and attended St. Paul's Lutheran grade school and graduated from Arlington High School in 1938. She was born May 29, 1920 near Arlington, NE to Henry and Sophie (Kruger) Hilgenkamp. She grew up on the family farm north of Arlington and attended St. Paul's Lutheran grade school and graduated from Arlington High School in 1938. After completing a course of study at Von Sant School of Business she was employed in Omaha until her marriage to Leonard Sperling on August 15, 1943 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington. They farmed the Sperling home place southeast of Arlington until 1981, when they retired and moved to an acreage, north of Arlington. The couple moved to Fremont in 2008. Laurina previously was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and later was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. She was a 4-H leader, an accomplished seamstress, and avid quilter. She enjoyed square dancing and traveling throughout the United States. She is survived by: husband, Leonard; her children, Rita and her husband Warrren Thompson of Atwood, CO, Ralph and his wife Heike Sperling of El Paso, TX, Carol Anderson of Rochester, MN, and Connie and her husband Paul Luther of Grand Island, NE; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother, Esther Hilgenkamp and Raymond Hilgenkamp and by three sons-in-law, Donald Lambrecht, Gary Anderson and Gale Ransdell. Funeral service will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Rick Kanoy will officiate. Visitation will be 3-8 P.M. Monday and 1 hr prior to service on Tuesday, all at the funeral home. Burial will be at 3:45 P.M. on Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Arlington, NE. Memorials may be directed to The Lutheran Hour.
