Description	:	LaVerle June Haley was born August 6, 1931 to Everett and Hannah (Mundorf) Haley at Valentine, NE. She grew up on the family farm near Milboro, SD. She attended Fremont Country School through the 8th grade and high school in Valentine, NE. LaVerle was united in marriage to Charles Homan on September 21, 1946. Read More	LaVerle June Haley was born August 6, 1931 to Everett and Hannah (Mundorf) Haley at Valentine, NE. She grew up on the family farm near Milboro, SD. She attended Fremont Country School through the 8th grade and high school in Valentine, NE. LaVerle was united in marriage to Charles Homan on September 21, 1946. They lived in Casper, WY for several years before returning to South Dakota in 1970. On January 23, 1971, LaVerle was united in marriage to Leroy Speckels at Chamberlain. She and Dad planned a honeymoon to Spain and had a difficult time getting mom's birth certificate for her passport as the one on file just had Baby Girl Haley listed as her name. Mom was worried that she wouldn't get it in time and Dad would have to go by himself. They worked side by side in farming and ranching. They retired in 1988 from farming but remained on the farm until 2008 when they sold the home place and moved into Chamberlain. They made their home at Regency Retirement Assisted Living. Mom was a wonderful cook and was well known for her homemade chicken and noodles and apple pie. She loved playing dominoes, cards, and doing word searches. She never missed an opportunity to watch an episode of Dancing With The Stars. She truly loved watching sporting events and other activities of her grandchildren's. One of her prouder moments was when she, Joyce Schaub, and Laura Kulm were honored with plaques during the baseball season for being the "Three Grandma's" for not missing a game at home or out of town. She was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan even when they did not have a good season. She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain. She and Dad were crowned as Homecoming King and Queen of Regency Retirement by the residents. The courage, strength, and positive attitude she shared during her recent illness earned her the title of "Rock Star". We made a banner reflecting this new-given title and displayed it on the wall of her hospital room. She was adamant that every nurse and doctor who took care of her autographed it. LaVerle passed away on August 1, 2015 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain at the age of 83 years. Preceding her in death were her parents Everett and Hannah Haley, brother Clayton "Buddy" Haley, and son-in-law Wes Schaub.
