He was born on January 8, 1928 to the late Fred and Ella Weber Dieckgrafe at the home place where he lived and farmed his entire life until his illness took him away from it. He lost his right hand 60 years ago, but it never stopped him from doing anything he wanted to do. He enjoyed visiting with anyone and everyone and there weren't many people he didn't know. He was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church of Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ella Weber Dieckgrafe; his wife Ruby, who died on March 11, 2000; two sisters, Geraldine Dieckgrafe and Eileen Crisler; brother in law John Mills and his parents in law, Ben and Elise Gadeken.
