Description	:	Memorial services for LaVern E. Raabe age 64 of Pilger, NE will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE. Interment of the cremains will be in the Pilger Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Pilger, NE and will continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. till service time at the church. LaVern passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at his residence. LaVern Emil Raabe was born April 28, 1947 at Norfolk, NE to Erwin and Edna (Hejtmanek) Raabe. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stanton, NE and later confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE. LaVern attended Pilger Public Schools and graduated from Pilger High Scholl in 1965. After graduation he attended at trade school in Chicago, IL and later began working for Litton Industries. LaVern went to work for Williams International in Ypsilanti, MI in the 1980's. While there he continued his education at the University of Michigan. After retiring in 2007 and returning to Pilger he continued to do consulting work for different defense contractors until his passing. LaVern was interested in antiques, wind energy, and conservation to name a few. Survivors include- Brother- Leonard and wife Cynthia Raabe of Pilger, NE Sisters- Elaine and husband Jack Scherer of Stanton, NE Carol and husband Paul Smith of Wheatridge, CO A nephew and three nieces also survive him. LaVern was preceded in death by his parents.
