He served in the US Air Force from 1950-1955. He married Helen Yarnell on Feb. 10, 1961 in Dubuque, IA. He farmed in rural Clinton, was a caretaker at the Cody Homestead in LeClaire, IA, worked maintenance at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, worked with his wife Helen at Manning Real Estate, and was a bus driver for Clinton Schools before retiring in 2002.
