Burial with military rites by Minden American Legion Post No. 94 were in the Minden Cemetery. **** Mr. Holsten was born March 27, 1925, to Arthur and Marie(Jensen) Holsten on a farm northeast of Axtell. He graduated from Minden High School in 1942. He served in the Army during World War II in the Panama Canal Zone. On June 1, 1947, he married Shirley A.Dittrick at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden. They lived in the Minden area. He purchased the Robb Building in 1975. He owned and operated Vern's Repair in Minden at that location until he retired. He was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden where he was an elder, Sunday school teacher and superintendent for 17 years. He participated in the Light of the World Christmas Pageant in Minden for 30 years. He also was a member of the American Legion Post No. 94 and the Lions Club, both in Minden. Survivors are his wife; two sons, Kent of Hastings and Kevin of Waukesha, Wis.; three daughters, Marcia Benson of Kearney, Audre Zaroban of Elkhorn and Lorane Holsten of Minden; one sister, Marilyn Ostergaard of Kenewick, Wash.; one brother, Melvin of McCook; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
