Description	:	Lavern W. Kracl, 91, of Schuyler, died at his home Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Presbyterian Church in Schuyler. The Rev. Neal Allen and Jerry L. Kracl will officiate. Burial will be in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kracl Funeral Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the church. Lavern was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Rogers to Frank and Eloise (Hooper) Kracl. He graduated from Schuyler High School and then went to California to work as a welder in the ship yards, during the war. He returned to Schuyler and in 1946, opened the Last Chance Bar which he owned and operated for six decades. On Oct. 23, 1947, Lavern married Isabelle Gerrard at the Presbyterian Church in Schuyler. They were active in managing the Last Chance until 1985. After “retiring” he then operated Kracl Refrigeration, which he later sold to his grandson, Matthew. Lavern was very active in the Schuyler community, serving on the Board of Public Works for 50 years, volunteer fireman and past chief of the Schuyler Fire Department, Loup Public Power Board of Directors for 48 years and enjoyed traveling with Isabelle. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Isabelle, of Schuyler; two daughters, Marie (W.O.) Myrick of Schuyler and Janet (Duane) Spale of Grand Island; two sons, Jerry (Rose) Kracl of Schuyler and Don (Joyce) Kracl of Ashland; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Evelyn Kuwitsky of Hayward, Calif., Betty Kohout and Elayne (Ray) Henry, all of Lincoln and Marilyn Foster of Carson City, Nev.; five brothers, Verlyn “Buck” (Rose Ann) Kracl of Schuyler, Douglas of Santa Cruz, Calif., David of Jordan, Utah, Richard (Sharon) Kracl of Schuyler and Darrell (Clarice) Kracl of Greeley, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Gladys Ekeland; and three brothers, Marvin, Marlin and Jack Kracl.
