Description	:	LaVerne M. Brion was born in Chambers, Neb., on May 26, 1918, to John Walter and Matilda Lierman Walter. She graduated from Chambers High School then attended Wayne State College for two years. On June 5, 1939, LaVerne was united in marriage to Richard S. Brion of Ewing, Neb. They made their first home in Oakland, Calif., where Richard worked in the shipyards during the war. On April 25, 1943, their first son, Ronald Richard Brion, was born followed by Kenneth Walter Brion in 1946. Brion was born in Chambers, Neb., on May 26, 1918, to John Walter and Matilda Lierman Walter. She graduated from Chambers High School then attended Wayne State College for two years. On June 5, 1939, LaVerne was united in marriage to Richard S. Brion of Ewing, Neb. They made their first home in Oakland, Calif., where Richard worked in the shipyards during the war. On April 25, 1943, their first son, Ronald Richard Brion, was born followed by Kenneth Walter Brion in 1946. After the war, LaVerne and Richard moved their family back to Neligh, Neb., where they owned and operated a furniture business until 1958. In 1958, LaVerne and her family moved to Ewing, Neb., where Richard was president of Farmers State Bank until retirement in 1975. In 1980, LaVerne and Richard moved to O'Neill, Neb. In 1997, LaVerne moved to Kansas City, Mo., then later to Missoula. In 2007, she moved to Hamilton where she remained until her death on July 18, 2010. LaVerne was a faithful Christian and member of Grace Lutheran Church in Neligh for 30 years. In O'Neill, LaVerne was a very active member of Christ Lutheran Church. There she served in the choir, was on the welcoming committee and ladies aid. Even in her last years in Hamilton, LaVerne played the organ at chapel and was at work recruiting ladies for Wednesday Bible study. LaVerne loved people. She spent her life serving others. Her grandkids will remember her as a model homemaker and great cook. Her kitchen table was the social center of her home and her family. But mostly her loved ones will remember her for her love of Jesus and ability to withstand any of life's hardships by leaning on him.
