Description	:	LaVerne M. Zimmerman, age 82, died Monday, February 23, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Thursday morning, February 26, 2004 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello with interment in the Wayne Zion Cemetery. Rev. Eugene Schipper will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 3 until 7 Wednesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Condolences may be left at goettschonline.com. She was preceded in death by her Parents, her husbands, Louis and Emil Zimmerman, and a step-son, Paul Zimmerman. LaVerne Miller was born, May 17, 1921 at Traer, Iowa. She was the daughter of Charles Karl and Regina Koshatka, Miller. LaVerne grew up in Stone City where she modeled for the Grant Wood Art Colony. She received her formal education in the Anamosa Schools. LaVerne Mae Miller and Louis R. Zimmerman were married January 21, 1939 at Wyoming, Iowa. The couple farmed in Cass Township near Anamosa. LaVerne also worked at Monty Produce. The couple moved to Anamosa in 1968 and LaVerne was employed by Doerr Electric in Anamosa. Louie preceded her in death on May 6, 1980. LaVerne Miller Zimmerman and Emil Zimmerman were married on December 29, 1982 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa. The couple made their home in Anamosa. Emil preceded her in death on April 17, 2000. LaVerne was a member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church and had belonged to the Cass 500 Club and the Cass Homemakers. She also volunteered at the Grant Wood Information Center in Anamosa.
