Meona'Hane "Morning Kills" was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Busby, a son of John and Mary Strange Owl Kills on Top, Sr. He grew up and received his education in Birney. Following his education, he farmed. In January of 1950, he married Alice His Bad Horse and the couple made their home in the Kirby area. Alice died in 1976. He enjoyed gardening singing traditional songs and planting trees. His parents; wife; sisters, Gloria Kills on Top and Nancy Rowland; brothers, Frankie, Paul, Peter, Rufus Harold and Landon Kills on Top; stepdaughter Arlene Long Jaw; and granddaughter Stormy Clark preceded Lavern in death. Survivors include his daughters, Darlene (Manford) Soldier Wolf, Laverna (Steve) Rocker, Pauline High Wolf, Stella Kills on Top, Verda (Raymond) King, Evaleen (Bob) Brave Heart, Aline, Jenny, Zola and Orlena Kills on Top; sons, Darwin, Vern, Lester and Troy (Lori) Kills on Top; sisters Rosella (Jim) Mann and Irene Bearquiver; brothers, Douglas Spotted Eagle, Jimmy Kill on Top, Sr. and John Kills on Tops, Jr.; special friends, Rock Red Cherries, Sheridan Blackstone, Leroy Pine, Calvin Brady and Emmett Medicine Top; his extended family, including the Elk Shoulder, Strange Owl, Young Man, Bear Tusk, White Wolf, Medicine Top, Fox, Little Coyote and Fighting Bear families; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. If, in our grief, we have missed, you please accept our apology. We offer a heart felt thank you to Community Oxygen, Lame Deer Community Health nurses, Northern Cheyenne Ambulance, and the nursing staff and chaplains at Billings Clinic for all of their loving care. Traditional wake services were held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the Busby White River Cheyenne Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Church. Interment followed in the Busby Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
