Description	:	Laverne Rena Cox, 83, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Alston Brook. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Austin Baptist Church by Phil Simmons, Tim Cox and the Rev. Jamie Wood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Cox was born July 14, 1931, in Wilkes County to Guy R. and Annie Bateman Cox. She was a member of Austin Baptist Church and retired from Kmart. Surviving are her brother, Tim Cox and wife Debbie of Lexington; sisters Joyce Billings and husband Ira of Thurmond and Sylvia Key and husband Danny of Elkin; and several nieces and nephews.
