LaVida went home to her Lord April 6, 2015 at Avera Eureka Health Care Center. LaVida (Rau) Eberhart was born to Gust and Martha (Hirsh) Rau on October 18, 1921 on the farm north of Java, SD. LaVida (Rau) Eberhart was born to Gust and Martha (Hirsh) Rau on October 18, 1921 on the farm north of Java, SD. She was baptized as an infant on June 22, 1922. LaVida attended Blessing School for eight years. She worked for the Johnson family doing general labor. She was united in marriage to Ruben G. Eberhart on July 11, 1943 in Sutley Evangelical Church by Rev. H.H. Dockter, where they were both members at the time. They started farming in 1947 at a farm known as the Jake Kary place, southwest of Eureka. They raised cattle and farmed small crops. LaVida was a Sunday school teacher at United Methodist Church, member of the Methodist Women, and a house wife whom also raised chickens. LaVida and Ruben moved to Eureka in 1983 where they lived until December of 2002 when they moved to an apartment in Aberdeen. Her husband died January 21, 2003. In 2011, LaVida moved to Avera Eureka Health Care Center. LaVida enjoyed baking, gardening, hand sewing, singing, yodeling, making German meals for her grandchildren and spending time with family. She really loved children and visitors. LaVida is survived by her two daughters, Delores Lowell and Kathy Woehlhaff; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Stanley, Leslie and Perry Rau, and three sisters, Lorraine Metzger, Ruth Mutschler and Janice Theis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Marilyn, four brothers and two sisters. Adapted from Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory obituary
