Description	:	LaVine Leigh Kumm was born on December 28, 1923 on a farm in rural Cuming County, NE to Fredrick (Fritz) and Ella (Lueschen) Kumm. He was baptized on February 3, 1924 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE. Sponsors were Adolph Lueschen and Anna Lueschen. Pastor W.E. Harms officiated per Pastor R Hildebrandt. On May 1, 1936, he was confirmed at St. Matthews Lutheran Church where he also attended school. LaVine entered the US Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1947. He was baptized on February 3, 1924 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE. Sponsors were Adolph Lueschen and Anna Lueschen. Pastor W.E. Harms officiated per Pastor R Hildebrandt. On May 1, 1936, he was confirmed at St. Matthews Lutheran Church where he also attended school. LaVine entered the US Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1947. On December 1, 1946 he married Rosemary Kander at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Howells, NE. They farmed side by side in Stanton County throughout their married life along with two of their sons. Some men farm, others are born to be stewards of the earth - this man was one of them. LaVine was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church of Stanton, NE and held various offices in the church. His faith in God was the foundation of his life and he knew well his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With his wife, Rosemary, their passion in life became attending dances at the Starlight Ballroom on Sunday afternoons where they polkaed the afternoon away. They also traveled to various polka festivals around the Midwest and made many friends along the way. Three sons were born to this marriage: Randall Eugene Kumm (Evy) - 1948 Russell Leigh Kumm (Jerri) - 1950 Dwight Frederick Kumm (Judy) - 1953 LaVine passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Stanton Health Center at the age of 91 years. Left to celebrate his life but mourn his absence from ours are his wife, Rosemary, his sons and their spouses, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. We all loved him so very much.
