Etna, the son, Frank, and Miss Mae, who is a teacher in Seattle, Washington, but who is home spending the vacation with relatives. We will give a more complete obituary later. The relatives have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their bereavement. Adams County Free Press September 2, 1914 The funeral of Mrs. M. H. Bigelow was held in the M. E. church in Mt. Etna Friday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. Y. Cupp, assisted by Rev. Fred Whitney, of the M. E. church and interment was made in Mt. Etna cemetery by the side of her husband and son, Harry, who had preceded her in death. Mary Jane Poage was born May 12, 1851 near Newton, Iowa and died Tuesday afternoon, August 25, 1914, at the home of her son, Frank Bigelow, 4 1/2 miles northeast of Prescott, aged 63 years, 3 months, and 11 days. In 1870 she was married to Marshall Hale Bigelow. To this union four children were born. They are Harry, who died about seven weeks ago; Mrs. Lulu Murphy, of Mt. Etna; Frank, residing near Prescott, and Miss Mae, who teaches in Seattle, Washington, but has been spending the vacation with relatives in this vicinity. Mr. Bigelow preceded his wife in death, passing away December 26, 1912. The family removed to Adams county in 1891 and purchased a farm near Mt. Etna, which they sold and removed to the home farm where Mrs. Bigelow died. The subject of this sketch united with the Congregational church at the age of 17 years and lived a devoted Christian life until her death. She had been in poor health. Beside the surviving children Mrs. Bigelow leaves four grandchildren, several other relatives and many friend to mourn the loss of a good woman. Eugene and Pace Bigelow, brothers-in-law of the deceased, from Harrison, Nebraska, attended the funeral of Mrs. Bigelow.
