Description	:	Lavon Neuhaus was born on July 27, 1913, at her maternal grandparents' home near Creighton, NE, the daughter of Henry Fricke Jr. and Alta (Elwood) Fricke. She passed away September 30, 2007 at the Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk, Nebraska, at the age of 94 years. She attended elementary school at District No. 24 in Knox County. She passed away September 30, 2007 at the Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk, Nebraska, at the age of 94 years. She attended elementary school at District No. 24 in Knox County. In 1931, she graduated from Creighton Public High School. That same year she received her Normal Training degree and became certified to teach in rural schools. She later earned her Bachelors Degree from Wayne State College along with additional library science hours. She taught in District No. 58 in Knox County, District No. 3 in Bazile Mills, Winnetoon Elementary, Creighton Elementary, Northern Hills in Norfolk Public Schools and was the librarian at Norfolk Jr. College which became Northestern Community college. Thirty four years were devoted to education. On January 10, 1943, she married Herman Neuhaus. Following his death on July 24, 1946, she remained in Creighton. She kept books for an implement dealer, worked as a dental assistant and owned, in partnership her mother, the original Flower Basket shop in Creighton. In 1962, she moved to Norfolk, Nebraska. Lavon was baptized at the Congregational Baptist Church in Creighton, Nebraska. When she moved to Norfolk in 1962 she became a member of the First Presbyterian church where she served on the session, was an elder, financial secretary, Sunday School secretary and treasurer, Ruth Circle Treasurer and was a delegate to Presbytery. Lavon was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers, Northern Hills PTA, Knox County Teachers Association and Norfolk Jr. College Association. She was a fifty year member of PEO. Lavon spent a number of years working as a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile and as chairperson of the Food Pantry at the Presbyterian Church. Lavon is survived by her son and his wife, Gary and Marinell Neuhaus of Omaha, two grand children, Jay of Zurich, Switzerland and Jacqueline of Shoreview, MN, nieces, nephews and cousins. ...from her funeral card
