Description	:	LaVonne Jean Lewis Paeper, better known as Bonnie, the daughter of Oscar and Carrie (Sanborn) Lewis was born October 1, 1921 at Cherokee, Iowa. She was baptized June 22,1947, the same day as her baby son Kurt and her husband Glen at the Newell Methodist Church. Her first year of school was attending a country school near Aurelia. The next 5 years she went to the Newell school when her family lived at the smaller home on the George Allee home place where her father was foreman for George and the other workers, tending to the Angus cattle and crops. Upon the family moving closer to Nemaha to farm, Bonnie went to the Nemaha school where she graduated in 1939. Her first employment was as a waitress at the Cobblestone Inn and she enjoyed it very much, hearing all the name bands hired for their special music for the dances; Glen Miller, Guy Lombardo and the Dorseys provided greatmemories. She later was a waitress in Cherokee, Storm Lake and Sac City. During the Second World War, in 1943, she operated an iron loom in Eurecka, California, mostly weaving blankets for the military while living with an aunt who was a riveter there in the ship yards. Bonnie's fiance, Glen Paeper, was then in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed on Oahu, Hawaii. He later returned to the states and received his honorable discharge on October 29, 1945, having earned becoming a staff sergeant after 3 years. Glen and Bonnie were married while he was still in service on September 1,1945 in the Methodist Church in Sioux City, Iowa. They spent 45 years farming near Newell and also had a trucking business for 50 years, keeping both very involved, with Bonnie being the only dispatcher and bookkeeper and hauling a few loads when needed. Bonnie took a big interest in gardening and won the vegetable contest the Newell bank held on year and received a nice award. She also appreciated her many animal pets, some from the wild she tamed gave her much pleasure, and lovely dolls. She liked driving her 3 wheeled Cushman Scooter taking her poodle, Buffy who enjoyed the rides too. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Donald Lewis and her nephew Rex Lewis.
