She passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Morningside Rehab & Care Center in Ida Grove, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. Lavonne was born at the Jensen family farm in rural Ida Grove. She was baptized in Christ on October 19, 1924, and confirmed in 1939 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. She attended local schools in Ida Grove and graduated with the class of 1941. On January 12, 1944, she was united in marriage to Wilbert Ernst. The couple farmed south of Ida Grove from 1945 until his death September 28, 1965. They were blessed with five children. She moved to Ida Grove in 1969 and continued to work at the Ida County State Bank until retiring in 1982. On November 23,1978, she married August Meisner. After they both retired, she and Augie enjoyed many years of traveling together. He passed away April 27, 1995. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family very much. Flower gardening and watching birds were favorite activities. She enjoyed socializing with friends and playing bridge. She was involved in a variety of volunteer services in the community, including peer ministry and hospice. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was involved in many activities over the years. Her faith in the Lord was very evident throughout her life. Lavonne was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Wilbert and Augie; three brothers: Ross, Ray and Arlo Jensen; one great-grandson, Noah Ernst. Survivors include her five children: Eugene Ernst and his wife, Vivian of Ida Grove; Diane Ernst of Decorah, Iowa; Dale Ernst and his wife, Vikki of Germantown, Tennessee; Dennis Ernst and his wife, Vicki of Ida Grove; Sandra Nissen and her husband, Mark of Audubon, Iowa; 14 grandchildren: Todd Ernst and his wife, Julie; their children, Luke and Maddie; Travis Ernst and his wife, Morgan; their son, Sawyer; Troy Ernst and his wife, Kim; their children, Elijah, Anna and Leah; Timothy Ernst and his wife, Terri; their sons, Tyler and Trevor; Jeff Lansink and his wife, Maria; their sons, Alex, Jack, and Drew; Jen Lansink and her husband, Alex Gutt; Jami Dickens and her husband, Blake; Lynsi Ernst; Michael, Matthew and Alex Ernst; Amy, Ashley and Bradley Nissen; eight sisters-in-law: Evelyn Jensen, Louann Jensen, Helma Hamilton, Mildred Ernst; Ruth Meisner; Bernie Meisner, Rachel Scheer and June Hansen; one brother-in-law, Leonard Ernst and his wife, Marilyn; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
