Funeral Services will be held 11:00 Wednesday morning, June 21, 2017 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church with interment in the Wayne Zion Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 7 Tuesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Pastor Wade Reddy will officiate at the services. She was preceded in death by her parents. LaVonne Louise Harms was born July 20, 1938 at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of George and Evelyn Rieken Harms. LaVonne attended Wayne Township School # 4. She graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1957. She worked as a typist at Iowa National Insurance Company in Cedar Rapids. From 1960 until 1963 she was employed as a secretary at Concrete Materials and Construction in Cedar Rapids. LaVonne Harms and Phillip Owen were married on May 19, 1962 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Lisbon, Iowa until 1986 when they moved to Monticello. LaVonne was a lifelong member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. She was baptized on August 17, 1938 and confirmed her faith on April 6, 1952. “Life was good! I enjoyed many blessings of having lived in the USA. I was especially blessed with a loving husband and two children and their families. I also give thanks and gratitude for family and friends.” “Lord, I give thanks for what you have first given me--myself, my time on earth and all the possessions you have given; all these are signs of your endless love.” She will be greatly missed and will be remembered for her generosity and love for others.
