A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Harrisburg Community Church in Harrisburg with Pastor Ken Boston officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Gering. A memorial has been established to Banner County Volunteer Fire Department. LaVonne was born July 26, 1918, near Underwood, Iowa, the daughter of Lee and Zella Vesey. Her father died in February 1919, when LaVonne was only nine months old. Her mother married George Whitney and the blended family moved to Kimball County in 1920. LaVonne attended grade school in Kimball and Cheyenne Counties. She graduated from the Potter High School and Chadron State College and then taught school for five years. LaVonne married Russell W. Post on October 5, 1940. They lived on a farm north of Kimball. LaVonne taught Sunday school and helped with choirs in the Methodist Church. She also co-sponsored Cub Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. In 1968, they moved to their ranch in Banner County, where they resided until moving to Northfield Villa Retirement Community in Gering in 2000. LaVonne is survived by her children, Dennis (Catherine) Post of Casper, Wyoming, Wendy (Keith) Garrison of Lincoln and Bob (Wilma) Post of Banner County; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Jackson, Camyla (Eric) Anderson and Suzann (Martin) Langer; great-grandchildren, Lexie and Kalem Jackson, Jaron and Easton Anderson and Lea and Nathan Langner. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and stepsister, Barbara Olsen.
