Miller, 87, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at her home. She was born on November 24, 1926 in Anadarko, OK to Earl & Sally Parr Turner. She married Melbourne Ort on August 25, 1945 in Childress, TX. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1963. She then married Fred Miller on April 17, 1981 in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1997. Prior to losing her first husband, she was a farmer's wife and later worked production at several factories. She was a member of Fort Madison United Methodist Church and enjoyed her pets, playing cards, antiques and a full house of family and friends. Lawanda is survived by: 3-sons: Melbourne (Sue) Ort of Trevor, WI, Gary (Peggy) Ort of Allen, TX & Steven (Catherine) Ort of New London, IA; 2-step sons: Carl (Lauren) Miller of Kaneohe, HI & Roger (Betty) Miller of Fort Madison, IA; 1-step daughter: Rebecca (Phillip) Prickett of West Burlington, IA; 12-grandchildren & several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, both husbands, 1-son: Michael Ort, 2-step sons & 3-sisters. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 with the family to receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Lane Van officiating. Burial will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial has been established for P.A.W. Animal Shelter and contributions may be left at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.
