After that he was a truck driver working in the oil patch in southern alberta .
LAWRENCE NIELSEN 1923 - 2004
Lawrence Vernon Nielsen, beloved husband of Nadiene Nielsen of Barnwell, passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Friday, October 8, 2004 at the age of 81 years. Lawrence was born in Cardston on July 9, 1923, the eldest son of Ollie & Erma Nielsen. He was educated in Taylorville and Barnwell and later married Nadiene Johnson April 2, 1947. He served in the Canadian Airforce during the Second World War in England and Germany. On returning, he farmed for a few years. He later was employed with Cliff & Claire's Transport, working in the oilfields of Southern Alberta. Lawrence was predeceased by his daughter Kathleen in infancy, his son Dan October 8, 1996 and his grandson Greg. Besides his loving wife Nadiene, he is survived by his children and grandchildren, his daughter Charlene (Richard) McClung of Barnwell and their family, Kerry, David (Heather), Jefferson (April) and Jessica, his son Eric (Nancy) Nielsen of Medicine Hat and their family, Kirk (Brittany) and Kristy (Rick) Hanna, by his daughter -in-law Cathy Nielsen of Barnwell and her family, Chris (Angie), Marcy, Jay (Jenny), Matt (Kim) and Brad, his son Randy (Leslie) Nielsen of Orem, Utah and their family, Megan, Kirsten, Erica and Nicole, his son Blair (Michele) Nielsen of Mesa, Arizona and their family, Jordan, Spencer and Kelsey and his daughter Michelle (Hamish) Elrick of Taber and their family, Lisa and Kieran as well as twelve great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters and brother Hazel (Jim) Tanner of Barnwell, Kenneth (Bea) Nielsen of Lethbridge and Lorna (Colin) Stubbert of Riverton, Utah. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, October 11, 2004 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also at the church prior to the Funeral Service on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Barnwell, Alberta on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Marty Johnson conducting. Interment to follow at the Barnwell Cemetery. |
