Description	:	Lawrence Wells Lawrence Wells was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 9th, 1874 so that when he was called to his heavenly home on January 21st, he had reached the age of 60 years and 12 days. When a little lad of five years he came to Howard county with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wells, and with them settled on a farm northeast of Cotesfield. Read More	Lawrence Wells Lawrence Wells was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 9th, 1874 so that when he was called to his heavenly home on January 21st, he had reached the age of 60 years and 12 days. When a little lad of five years he came to Howard county with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wells, and with them settled on a farm northeast of Cotesfield. There he grew to young manhood, assisting his parents with the work on the farm. Finally he decided to start out for himself and make a home of his own. With this in mind he was married to Miss Mary Chalupsky of Elba, on February 17th 1896, in the Catholic church at Elba, and they immediately began housekeeping on a farm near Scotia, where they resided for a number of years, or until about 27 or 28 years ago when they purchased the Ward Barnes farm between Elba and Cotesfield, and moved there and that has been their home ever since. Mr. Wells was a very progressive man and he improved that farm until it is one of the best improve farm homes in the county. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Wells, John Wells, Comstock; Mrs. Ed Biskeborn, Scotia; Alfred and Lawrence, Jr., of Elba; Ed Wells, Cotesfield and Mrs. Fred Wichman, Farwell. All the children and the fond and devoted wife are left to mourn the death of this good man. In addition to the immediate family he leaves ten grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters. They are Jake Wells, john Wells, and William Wells, all of Cotesfield and vicinity; and Mrs. Emma Dentm P_rris, Calif.; Mrs. Anton Keeney [sic], Sanders, Montana; Mrs. Theodore Doncheski, Central City and Mrs. Wm. Doncheski, Cotesfield. All of the family was present at the funeral except Mrs. Dent, who was unable to get here in time for the same. St. Paul Phonograph.
