Lawrence was born November 28, 1929 in West Point, NE to Henry and Anna(Schlecht)Gentrup. He attended Guardian Angels Catholic School at West Point. In 1952, Lawrence married Clara Stieren. He attended Guardian Angels Catholic School at West Point. In 1952, Lawrence married Clara Stieren. After her passing, Lawrence married Mildred Scharfen on January 18, 1956 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, near West Point. The couple farmed near West Point until 1973 when they moved into town. Lawrence worked in the lumber yard for True Value. He later worked for the City of West Point Utilities Department where he retired after 24 years of service. The couple moved to Fremont in 2013. Lawrence loved to spend time with his grandchildren, watching football, and, racing. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Mildred; sons, Terry Gentrup of Fremont, Daniel Gentrup of Bixby, OK; daughters, Donna Kreikemeier(special friend, Tom Henry)of Fremont, Diane(Jon)Olson of Hooper, NE, Carolin(Gary)Renter of Snyder, Ne; grandchildren, Tate and Tara Gentrup, Jacob and Steven Renter, and Jessica, Jenna, and Jon Olson; one great-grandson and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clara; sons, Warren Gentrup and Tim Gentrup; brothers, Frank Spenner, Arnold Spenner, and Paul(Wilma)Gentrup; sisters, Gertrude Spenner, and Rita(LeRoy)Wiechman. Memorial Mass will be 10 A.M., Friday, July 15, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Father David Belt will officiate. Book signing and family receiving friends will be Thursday from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. with a rosary at 7 P.M. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery in Fremont.
