Lawrence was born May 11, 1934 in Stanly County to the late Henry David Tucker and Auta Harvell Tucker. He was an active member of Porter United Methodist Church and a retiree of Stanly Fixtures. Lawrence loved being a truck driver and working on his John Deere tractors. However, he was most passionate about his family and spent his retirement years traveling with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Swaringen Tucker of the home; daughters, Pamela Tucker Hinson and husband, Tommy and Jennifer Tucker Guignard and husband, Billy all of Unionville, NC; sister, Kay Foster of Locust; grandchildren, Maggie Caroline Hinson, Betsy Clair Hinson and Tucker Samuel Guignard. The family requests memorials made to: Porter United Methodist Church, c/o Christopher Knotts, 15592 Arrowood Drive, Norwood, NC 28128.
