Read More	Lawrence David Palmer, age 89, of Van Wert, Iowa, the son of Clair Sherman and Hettie Ermal (Euritt) Palmer, was born September 1, 1929, in Decatur County, Iowa. He died at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mt. Ayr, Iowa on September 14, 2018, surrounded by his family. Lawrence grew up in the Van Wert area. He attended Spring Valley country school and graduated from Van Wert High School. He started helping on the family farm at the early age of four, when he was big enough to sit on the seat of a Titan tractor and run the throttle for the threshing machine. On December 26, 1948, he married his high school sweetheart, Rosalie LuElla Cox. They spent over 66 years farming together on the same farm and Lawrence continued the farming operation after her death. They were blessed with two sons, Danny and Dennis. In his free time he enjoyed deer hunting and listening to his fox hounds, and more recently spending time with his dog, Zoey. He was entertained watching and talking to Foxy, the fox when she came in to eat feed out of his hand-held scoop. He enjoyed the time spent with his family, working and hunting along side of his grandchildren, or just being with each of them. Seeing and talking with his great grandchildren brought a smile to his face. He was a hard working farmer who had lived through some hard times, but was thankful for his many blessings and felt at peace with God. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Rosalie in 2015; son, Dennis, on the same date as his death in 1975; all his siblings, Atha Thompson, Ermal Byam, Ruth Reynolds, and an infant brother; parents-in-law, Georgia and Ruby Cox; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dean Thompson, Vern Byam, Russell and Barb Cox, Randal Cox, Donnie Cox, and Merna Cox. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Martha Palmer of Van Wert; grandchildren, Lacey Whitaker and Chris Van Winkle, Shawn and Cindy Palmer, Jason and Jo Palmer, Justin and Lauren Palmer, and Stacey and Justin Davis; nine great grandchildren, Shayn, Madisyn, Jesse, Jarrett, Haylee, Julia, Cayden, Kennedy, and Mikayla; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob Reynolds, Corwin and Bonnie Cox, Kay and Dennis Fierce, and Darlene Cox; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
