He passed away at the University hospital in Iowa City, Feb. 20, 1944, at 2 a.m. at the age of 58 years, 2 months and 20 days. On April 29, 1913, he was united in marriage with Selma M. Clemens, and to this union nine children were born. A son, Leo Francis, died in infancy. He has been a resident of Van Buren county his entire life. He seemed to be in his usual good health until a few days before his death. When a young man he was united with the Methodist church of Pittsburg under the pastorate of Rev. Young.
