Description	:	Lawrence “Larry” Duncan, 76, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Arbor Court. Per his request, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. December 13, 2014 at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel with Jerry and Virginia Knipe officiating. Born January 8, 1938, in Bonaparte, IA, Lawrence Edward was the son of Noah Elbert and Lenora Viola (Haynes) Duncan. He spent his formative years in Bonaparte, and received his early education there. “Larry” received his associate's degree from Keokuk Community College and his bachelor’s degree from Iowa Wesleyan College. He then enrolled at the University of Iowa and earned his master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation. On August 29, 1958, he married Karen Lowe in Bonaparte. The couple later divorced, but remained good friends thereafter. Larry was employed by the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant for 30 years, before retiring. He served as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the entire period of his employment with the institution, and also counselled at several area schools. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was Larry’s greatest love. He enjoyed watching westerns on television and listening to country music. Recently, he became a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Larry is survived by a daughter, Diane Duncan of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a son, Alan (Kelly) Duncan of Boone, IA; three grandchildren, Whitney Duncan, Nathan Duncan and Dylan Duncan; and by his ex-wife, Karen Duncan. Preceding in death, were his parents; and four brothers, Fred Duncan, Ray Duncan, Clayton Duncan and Robert Duncan -added per request of Jean Wenke (#46989537)
