Peel, 62, lifetime Cherokee area resident, died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday at the Mt. Carmel hospital. He had been in ill health for a year and had entered the hospital Tuesday. Mr. Peel was born here Oct. 13, 1899. He was married to the former Miss Mary Price April 12, 1924. He had lived in this area all of his life and on a farm on Cherokee R.R.1 for the past 27 years. Memberships were held in the Presbyterian church and the kansas Farm Bureau. He was a leader in 4-H work and a member of the Cloverleaf 4-H club. Survivors include the widow of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Jean Campbell, Girard R.R.4, Mrs. Elma Martha Hunt, Lawrence, and Mrs. Cora Lou Cukjati, 617 West Forest, Pittsburg; his mother, Mrs. Cora Peel of Girard; one brother, Glade Peel, Cherokee R.R. 1; one sister, Mrs. Fern DeMoss, Flint creek, Mich.; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian church at Cherokee. Rev. G.W. Fuller and Rev. B.B. Earnhart will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jim Stothard, Bill McCants, Marvin Bacon, George King, Granville Lovell and Wilbur Baird. Burial will be in Cherokee. The body will be taken from the Brenner Chapel to the church at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the Brenner Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
